We are excited to announce Rebuilding Together and its affiliate, Rebuilding Together Nashville, are partnering with HGTV, to launch our She Builds initiative this June 7 in Nashville! This initiative, presented by HGTV, is a nationwide volunteer event series, for and by women, providing critical home repairs and community restoration to create real change for women in need.
The Nashville event will bring HGTV and the Listed Sisters, Alana and Lex LeBlanc, together with local volunteers to restore one of the homes at Thistle Farms, a sanctuary helping women survivors of abuse, addiction, trafficking and prostitution by providing them with a safe place to live, counseling, job training and other basic life skills and services. This event will be followed by She Builds: New York and She Builds: Seattle in October 2016.
“With popular hosts like Alana and Lex from Listed Sisters, and Mother/Daughter duo Karen and Mina from Good Bones, it’s naturally intrinsic for HGTV to develop content that is inspiring and empowering for women,” shares Annette Brun, VP of Corporate Giving and Cause Marketing for HGTV’s parent company Scripps Networks Interactive. “Working with our national partner Rebuilding Together provides a platform that spotlights women helping women through roles typically filled by men. Breaking through these stereotypes gives women the confidence to pursue a fulfilling life, and we couldn’t be more delighted to be alongside Rebuilding Together for the inspirational journey.”
Together we can increase the health and safety of these women’s homes, and empower them to become change makers in their communities. Interested in helping out?
